Former interning photographer Zoey Duchene reflects on her experience at Block Club Chicago, a local news outlet in Chicago. Duchene, who is not a Chicago native, found her time at Block Club to be a thrilling adventure, allowing her to connect with the city and its people.

Connecting with the Community

Duchene’s assignments took her to various parts of the city, from photographing buildings to capturing the opening of the Obama Presidential Center. She enjoyed talking to Chicagoans about their stories and showing a larger audience why every person’s story is important.

Duchene also appreciated the opportunity to work with the reporters at Block Club, who supported her work and showed her different sides of the field. Although her internship has ended, she plans to continue capturing what makes Chicago unique: its people.
