The Channel Cat Water Taxi is set to commence its 2026 season in Moline, Illinois, starting Friday, June 5. The service will operate daily through the end of September, providing a unique and scenic mode of transportation along the Mississippi River.
Season Schedule and New Features
The water taxi will run Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7:40 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. While the Lindsay Park Marina stop near the Village of East Davenport will remain closed until late June due to construction, passengers can look forward to a new dock and pedestrian bridges once the project is completed.
This season introduces several new features, including QR code signs that passengers can scan for real-time updates and information about points of interest at each docking location. Additionally, the Channel Cat will host live music sessions, known as Channel Cat Sessions, on select days. These performances are first-come, first-served during regular service hours, featuring local artists such as Eva Kendall, Mo Carter, and Kaiden Leezer.
Educational Opportunities
River Action’s “Explore the River” Channel Cat Talks are returning this season, offering educational tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. New this year, youth talks will be available on select Wednesdays, focusing on the history, culture, wildlife, and geography of the Mississippi River and the Quad Cities region. These tours will depart from Riverbend Commons in Moline.
Tickets for the Channel Cat can be purchased with cash on the boat or online, providing flexible options for all passengers. This beloved local service continues to offer both residents and visitors a chance to enjoy the beauty and history of the Mississippi River.
