Crews are currently responding to the Cerro Colorado Fire in Mora County, New Mexico. The Mora County Sheriff’s Office, Sierra Bonita Fire, Rainsville Fire, Guadalupita Fire, Mora Fire, New Mexico State Forestry, and other responding agencies are on the scene.
The fire is estimated at approximately 4½ acres and is growing, with heavy brush and Ponderosa pine burning. It is located between New Mexico Highway 434 and New Mexico Highway 442 near Coyote Road. New Mexico State Forestry has a helicopter assisting with fire suppression operations.
The public is asked to avoid the area and allow emergency personnel to safely conduct operations. At this time, there are no evacuations in place. If you see a new fire or suspicious smoke, please contact Dispatch at (505) 425-6771 or call 911 in an emergency.
