Residents of Central Oregon experienced a few scattered showers today, though they were neither widespread nor organized. The region’s normal high temperature is around 70 degrees, and today’s cloud cover and spotty showers brought relief from the 80-degree weather seen yesterday, keeping temperatures slightly above normal.
Weather Outlook for the Week
Following today’s brief rain, mild and dry weather is expected to close out the week. Thursday and Friday will see highs in the mid-70s under partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies, providing an excellent opportunity to enjoy the outdoor activities Central Oregon has to offer.
Looking ahead to the weekend, a deep area of low pressure currently in the Gulf of Alaska is forecasted to move into British Columbia. This will bring some cloud cover to the area on Saturday, along with rain across the Cascades. However, the high desert is expected to remain dry as the mountains will capture most of the moisture.
Saturday’s temperatures will be cooler, with highs in the low 60s due to the cloud cover. On Sunday, temperatures will rise by about 10 degrees, with mostly to partly sunny skies anticipated.
Early Next Week
As we move into next week, a line of showers is expected to enter the state at the coast before sunrise on Monday, slowly progressing eastward. While the chance of rain in Central Oregon remains low, light rain is expected across the mountains and will continue east over the Tri-Counties. Monday will be mostly cloudy with light rain, keeping temperatures near the low 70s. Tuesday may see lingering showers in the morning, with breezy conditions expected.
Although this rain will do little to alleviate the ongoing drought situation, every bit helps. Residents are encouraged to stay informed by downloading the Local Alert Weather App for live radar and urgent weather alerts.
