Central Oregon NJROTC Cadets March in D.C. Memorial Day Parade

Cadets from the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) at Mountain View High School, along with their peers from La Pine and Crook County, are making Central Oregon proud as they march in the 250th Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. This significant event honors the sacrifices of those who served in the U.S. military, and these young cadets are representing their community on a national stage.

Fundraising Efforts

Mountain View High School faced a unique challenge in participating this year, as they were not funded by NJROTC at the time of planning. The cadets and their supporters took it upon themselves to organize fundraising events throughout the school year. Their dedication and hard work ensured they could join this important commemoration, highlighting the community spirit and commitment to honoring veterans.

National Memorial Day Concert

In addition to marching in the parade, the cadets attended the National Memorial Day Concert held on the West Lawn of the Capitol Building. This concert is a revered tradition that brings together people from all over the country to pay tribute to the men and women who have served in the armed forces.

The participation of these Central Oregon cadets in both the parade and the concert underscores the importance of remembering and honoring those who have given their lives in service to the nation. Their presence in Washington, D.C., is a testament to the values of service and remembrance that are cherished in their local communities.
