Fecal Matter’s Rise to Fame
Fecal Matter started as a small brand selling designs on the secondhand shopping platform Depop, but has since showcased collections at Paris Fashion Week. The designers have said the name reflects their view of the fashion industry, a perspective they initially summed up with a more vulgar word.
Celebrity stylist Brad Goreski says there is a beautiful tension in Fecal Matter’s work between finesse and decay. Fecal Matter’s designs have been worn by Lady Gaga, Kylie Jenner, and Demi Moore, among others.
Fecal Matter was taken under the wings of Dover Street Market in 2024, which offers emerging brands development support. The brand’s next Paris Fashion Week show is set for September.
