Arizona Cardinals tight end Travis Vokolek announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 28 due to a severe neck injury he suffered during the 2025 season. Vokolek was blocking during a kickoff and landed awkwardly after hitting a Colts player, needing to be stretchered off the field.
Medical Retirement
Vokolek stated in a social media post that he was retiring on doctor’s advice after numerous visits with doctors and neurologists over the past couple of months. He expressed gratitude for being able to live out his childhood dream of playing football at the highest level for the past three years.
Vokolek thanked his teammates, coaches, trainers, and the Arizona Cardinals training staff for their support during this difficult time. He also thanked his wife for being by his side throughout his recovery.
