The Arizona Cardinals will be without their top pick, Jeremiyah Love, for at least a week due to an ankle injury. Love, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, suffered the injury during the team’s preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday.
Injury Update
Head coach Mike LaFleur stated that Love came into the building on Friday sore, despite not having much concern following the game. LaFleur said, ‘He was in great spirits, even Friday. But we’ll keep him out this week as we let it heal. So, a little bit more sore than we were anticipating.’
LaFleur declined to look further than Saturday’s practice when asked how Love’s injury could impact his Week 1 status. Love will not play in the team’s second preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys next Saturday.
With Love out, Tyler Allgeier will step into the starting role, with Bam Knight and Corey Kiner backing him up. Veteran running back James Conner has not yet participated in 11-on-11 drills as he recovers from a right foot injury that forced him to miss 14 games last season.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, Love is not the only rookie who sustained an injury in the team’s first preseason game. Second-round pick Chase Bisontis tore the MCL in his left knee and will be placed on injured reserve.
