The Burlington Volunteer Fire Department made trips to a home where skeletal remains were found, records show. On June 14, troopers responded to a home on Stanwich Lane for a report of human remains inside. A new homebuyer, who purchased the home at a foreclosure auction, found the skeletal remains of three people.
According to state police, the causes of death are pending further studies, and the manner is pending investigation. The Burlington Volunteer Fire Department was also called to the home that day by police to test for carbon monoxide in the air. None was found.

Crews were called to the home on Stanwich Lane in response to a police report of an audible fire alarm on May 23. First responders did a walk-around of the home and did not see signs of a fire or smoke. The report stated that the home appeared vacant on the outside, with signage indicating that a management company should be contacted in case of an emergency.
