Jerry Jeudy, a wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, recently clarified the meaning behind a viral video in which he held up four fingers. Jeudy stated that the gesture was a reference to his daughter’s age, not an endorsement of teammate Deshaun Watson as the preferred starting quarterback.
Quarterback Competition
The Browns are currently in the midst of a quarterback competition between Watson and Shedeur Sanders. Jeudy emphasized that he has been in the NFL long enough to know not to answer questions about his preference for quarterback on social media.
Jeudy explained that he cut his daughter out of the video but not his response to a viewer’s question about her age. He said, ‘I threw out the four because she’s 4 years old.’ Jeudy also met with the Browns, Watson, and Sanders to clear up any misunderstandings about the video.
First-year head coach Todd Monken plans to give both Sanders and Watson at least one start in the preseason. The quarterback competition is expected to continue throughout the preseason, with the team looking to make a decision on the starting quarterback before the regular season begins.
