Brewers Sweep Reds

The Milwaukee Brewers edged the Cincinnati Reds 6-5 on Wednesday night to complete a three-game series sweep at Great America Ballpark in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati loaded the bases in the ninth with one out, but reliever Josh Kuhnel got the double play to end the game. Kuhnel earned the save, and Chad Patrick got the win in relief to push the Brewers a season-high 20 games over .500 at 49-29.

William Contreras and Jake Bauers slammed back-to-back homers in the third to jump-start the offense. Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that the offense ebbed and flowed. Murphy hinted that he is thinking of making a lineup change. Andrew Vaughn has been really good offensively and Murphy is considering playing him full-time instead of a platoon at first base.

Vaughn is batting .351 with 2 home runs, 24 RBI, a .438 OBP and .970 OPS. Milwaukee is off Thursday and opens a series against the Cubs at home Friday.
