Brett Hobza, a candidate for Casper City Council Ward I, recently answered questions about his campaign. Hobza emphasized the importance of addressing affordability, housing, and economic opportunity in Casper.
Challenges Facing Constituents
Hobza noted that Ward 1 constituents face a range of challenges, including affordability, housing, and economic opportunity. He stated that city council decisions must be fiscally disciplined to minimize the financial impact on residents, particularly those on fixed incomes.
Hobza also highlighted the need to diversify Casper’s economy and create employment opportunities that keep young adults in the area. He emphasized the importance of supporting business expansion, strengthening partnerships with economic development organizations, and welcoming industries that can create stable, good-paying jobs.
Addressing Challenges
If elected, Hobza plans to address these challenges by listening to constituents, working collaboratively with fellow council members and city staff, and building stronger partnerships with agencies and organizations that can help Casper achieve measurable results.
Hobza, a retired architect and planner, would bring 35 years of professional expertise to council discussions regarding growth, land use, ordinances, development, infrastructure projects, and difficult budget and priority decisions.
Qualifications
Hobza has a deep understanding of Casper, having grown up in the city and having family members who are small business owners. He is involved in the community as a member of the Downtown Casper Business Association, the Casper Historic Preservation Commission, and the Lyric building committee.
Hobza’s experience leading a large K-12 education sector for an international architecture firm has taught him how to build teams, work collaboratively, and act with integrity to best serve the community.
