The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana is preparing to roll out a new mobile learning lab designed to bring educational opportunities directly to young people in the Louisville area. The Justin Thomas Mobile Learning Lab is a customized, 38-foot classroom on wheels equipped with technology students can use to learn coding, graphic design, video and audio editing, 3D printing, and laser engraving.
Expanding Educational Opportunities
Students will also be able to use its computers for homework help and resume building. According to Rubin Nieto, Vice President of Resource Development, the lab is intended to serve neighborhoods where children do not have easy access to a Boys & Girls Club location.
The organization plans to have the mobile learning lab on the road within the next few weeks. Additionally, the Boys & Girls Club’s Newburg location is adding a barber and beauty salon this school year to help children look and feel their best while creating a safe environment where staff members can check in on their mental well-being.
