Hardin County School District welcomed back more than 14,000 students for the 2026-27 school year. The first day of school was marked with excitement and nerves as students, parents, and staff members reunited.
First Day Jitters
Principal Casey Goodman expressed his enthusiasm for the new school year, stating, “It’s nothing like seeing the growth from the first day of school to the last day of school.” Students like Charlston Jaggers were eager to start the new year, with Jaggers saying, “I don’t know, everything!”
Parents, such as Trenton Williamson and Sharon McDaniel, were also excited for their children to start the new year. Williamson mentioned that his child was “a little nervous, but I think she’s kind of putting our nerves at ease because she’s so excited.”
The district is reminding families to download the Stopfinder app, which allows parents and guardians to track school buses in real-time and see how far away their child’s bus is from the stop.
