A Catholic priest in Boynton Beach has been suspended due to serious allegations, according to the Diocese of Palm Beach. Rev. Alex Vargas, pastor of St. Thomas More Parish, was placed on administrative leave and his ministerial faculties have been removed.
Investigation Underway
The diocese has reported the matter to the authorities and hired an independent investigative firm to conduct the investigation. The diocese is fully available to cooperate with all civil authorities and welcomes the participation of any appropriate law enforcement agency.
The diocese strongly encourages anyone who may have been a victim of abuse, misconduct, or criminal behavior by a representative of the church to come forward and report such information immediately.
