A Boynton Beach barbecue restaurant, Pigsty BBQ, is closing after a decade due to ongoing road and parking lot construction and a changing economy.
Co-owner Tom Rhodemyre stated that despite a loyal customer base, the construction has made it difficult for customers to access the restaurant, with some Uber Eats drivers even canceling pickups due to the confusion.
The Florida Department of Transportation’s multimillion-dollar project to revitalize Boynton Beach Boulevard and Highway 804 has led to the installation of a new bike path and sidewalk, but has also caused chaos and made it hard for customers to enter the plaza where Pigsty BBQ is located.
Other businesses in the plaza have expressed similar concerns, and the owners of Pigsty BBQ have announced that their final day of operation will be July 26.
