A 12-year-old boy is recovering after surviving a shark attack while vacationing with his family in the Bahamas. Parker Roll was at a secluded beach when what he thought was a docile nurse shark turned out to be a 10-foot-long reef shark that latched onto his leg.
His older brother pulled him away from the shark and out of the water, while another brother ran for a first-aid kit. The family transported Parker 60 miles by boat to the nearest hospital.
Parker said, ‘It felt like a knife was stabbed into my calf and then twisted and then someone was laying on top of it.’ He needed 1,000 stitches in his leg, and his parents said doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
