A 19-year-old charged in connection to a fatal shooting near Shawnee Park appeared in court Friday morning. Keontre Mitchell pleaded not guilty to murder and receiving stolen property. He’s accused of fatally shooting 27-year-old Kevonte White on June 6 in the 4400 block of W Broadway.
Court records say Mitchell got out of a vehicle that had been reported stolen and began chasing White. During the chase, Mitchell pulled out a handgun and shot White multiple times. White was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Mitchell’s bond was set at $500,000, and he’s set to be back in court on July 6.
