Residents in the Berry Bay area of Hillsborough County, Florida, can now use their tap water normally. The precautionary boil water notice was lifted on Thursday, June 25, 2026, after testing showed the local water supply meets all regulatory safety standards.
Background
The issue began on June 24, 2026, when water pressure in the distribution system dropped below the required level due to contractor work in the area. As a result, the Hillsborough County Water Resources Department issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers served by the South Central potable water system.
With the notice now lifted, health officials recommend that residents take a few maintenance steps before drinking from the tap. The Florida Department of Health advises running water for five minutes at every tap in the house to flush the lines with fresh water. This includes all water-reliant fixtures and appliances, such as misters, drinking fountains, and ice makers. For ice makers, residents should discard the first full bin of ice produced.
For more information, residents can visit HCFL.gov/BoilWaterNotice or contact the Hillsborough County Water Resources Department directly at (813) 307-1000. Additionally, residents can sign up for HCFL Alert, the county’s emergency notification system, to receive updates on utility issues in the future.
