A search-and-rescue team conducting a grid search in rural Davis County on Saturday located the body of a man who had been reported missing earlier this week. The Davis County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Alvin Haines, who was reported missing June 25.
Search crews discovered his body June 27 while searching the area. Haines’ body has been transported to the Iowa state medical examiner’s office, where officials will determine the cause and manner of death.
The sheriff’s office extended its condolences to Haines’ family and loved ones. “The Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank all those who assisted in any way in the search for Mr. Haines,” Sheriff Zach Dunlavy said in a news release. No additional information was immediately available as the investigation continues.
