Big East Names New Commissioner

The Big East has named Tim Brosnan as its sixth commissioner, succeeding Val Ackerman who announced her retirement in April. Brosnan brings years of experience in media, sports, and business, including a 24-year stint with Major League Baseball.

Leadership Experience

Brosnan served in various executive roles and as CEO of Major League Baseball Enterprises before leaving to run a sports media consultancy. His tenure as commissioner begins on September 1.

St. John’s president, the Rev. Brian J. Shanley, led the search committee and praised Brosnan’s leadership qualities and experience in revenue generation. Brosnan has ties to the Big East, having been a four-year letter winner on Georgetown’s baseball team during his college years.
