Overland Park welcomed a new locally owned beauty destination this weekend as Bespoke Beaute Lab opened its first permanent storefront in the downtown area. Founded two years ago by entrepreneur Viktoria Volosin and her husband Jason Gullick, the shop expands the duo’s popular pop‑up concept that lets customers craft their own lip products.
Hands‑on lip‑lab experience
Visitors are guided through a step‑by‑step process, beginning with a sugar lip scrub and then choosing from 30 shades. Guests can decide whether they want a shimmery gloss, a matte bullet lipstick or a liquid lipstick, and add optional features such as glitter, plumper, SPF or signature scents like vanilla, mimosa, pink champagne, caramel, chai or green apple.
“Gloss is definitely the most popular,” Volosin said. “It’s just the most versatile. You can make it really light, or pack the punch so it’s almost like a glossy lipstick.” Up to ten customers work at a time, mixing colors and watching their custom product poured and packaged right at the counter. The formula details are saved in Bespoke Beaute Lab’s system for future repeat orders.
From pop‑ups to a permanent space
The concept originated after Volosin’s girls’ trip to Texas, where she discovered a bar‑style lip‑bar and wanted a similar experience closer to home. After a series of pop‑up events and private parties across the Kansas City metro, the Overland Park location marks the brand’s first brick‑and‑mortar venture while still maintaining its mobile presence.
“It’s about being able to bring an experience that I love to the community – now in an even more static place,” Volosin explained. “I think everyone’s just really excited to have the space to come into.”
Shop design and community focus
The new shop features a wall of beakers behind the counter, reinforcing the “science lab” vibe of the lip‑making process. Pink and white décor creates a bright, female‑friendly atmosphere that Volosin described as “fun and empowering.”
Local residents now have a unique, family‑friendly option for personalized beauty products, supporting the community’s growing demand for experiential retail.
