The Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO) announced the arrival of a new kitten during its weekly “Pet Pals” segment on KTVZ. The two‑month‑old tortoiseshell, now named JoJo, was rescued from a gas station in Madras and will be ready for adoption starting Tuesday, August 25.
JoJo was brought to the shelter by volunteer Lynne, who explained that the kitten had been left at the station. KTVZ reporter Kelsey Merison initially dubbed the kitten “Hot Dog” because of the location, but later settled on JoJo, likening the name to the popular potato wedges served at local eateries.
Paw Fest Brewery Bash supports HSCO
GoodLife Brewing in Bend is hosting the Paw Fest Brewery Bash on August 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in its backyard at 70 SW Century Drive. The event is open to the public, whether attendees bring a dog, another canine companion, or simply come with friends and family. Dogs are not required to attend.
Ten percent of all GoodLife Brewing sales during the evening will be donated to HSCO. Organizers will also sell limited‑edition GoodLife Brewing and HSCO T‑shirts, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the shelter. The shirts are available while supplies last.
Paw Fest will feature a pup‑cup station, a photo opportunity, local vendors, and a gift‑basket giveaway filled with dog essentials. Live music is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., providing a family‑friendly atmosphere for animal lovers.
How the community can help
HSCO encourages residents to attend the event, adopt a pet, or support the shelter through donations. The organization emphasizes that events like Paw Fest create opportunities for families and friends to gather while celebrating the animals whose lives have been changed through adoption.
JoJo’s upcoming adoption date aligns with the event, giving potential adopters a chance to meet the kitten in person. Those interested in adopting JoJo or learning more about the shelter’s programs can contact HSCO directly or visit their website.
GoodLife Brewing’s Paw Fest Brewery Bash represents a collaborative effort between a local business and a nonprofit to support animal welfare in Bend. By combining community entertainment with a charitable cause, the event highlights the city’s commitment to caring for its four‑legged residents.
