Ball Arena to receive $135 million of upgrades by 2028‑29 season

Denver’s premier indoor venue, Ball Arena, is set for a major transformation. Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) disclosed an estimated $135 million investment that will be carried out in phases and completed in time for the 2028‑29 season.

Key improvements

The renovation plan centers on expanding the East Atrium, where new escalators will improve traffic flow and reduce wait times. A new team shop will join the atrium, giving fans easier access to merchandise. In addition, three new clubs will be introduced, one of which will feature direct access to reserved 100‑level seating, enhancing the premium experience for ticket holders.

Luxury suite upgrades

Alongside the atrium work, KSE is upgrading the arena’s luxury suites. The refreshed suites on the 100 and 200 levels are slated to open for the 2026‑27 season, offering upgraded amenities for corporate guests and high‑spending fans.

Impact on Denver’s sports teams

Ball Arena serves as the home of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth. KSE Vice Chairman Josh Kroenke said the enhancements will give each franchise a world‑class home that rivals any venue in their respective leagues. The upgrades are also intended to solidify the arena’s status as Denver’s top indoor space for touring concerts and major productions.

Community and economic benefits

Beyond the fan experience, the project is expected to generate construction jobs and stimulate local businesses that serve arena visitors. By improving accessibility and modernizing facilities, the arena aims to attract more events, which can boost tourism and downtown commerce.

Timeline

The renovation work will be staged to minimize disruption to scheduled games and events. Officials anticipate that all phases will be completed before the start of the 2028‑29 season, ensuring that the Nuggets, Avalanche and Mammoth can enjoy the upgraded venue without interruption.

KSE’s investment reflects a broader trend of sports‑venue owners modernizing facilities to meet evolving fan expectations and to remain competitive in the entertainment market. With the planned upgrades, Ball Arena is positioned to continue serving as a centerpiece of Denver’s cultural and sporting life for years to come.
