Back-to-School Guide for Broken Arrow Families

Back-to-School Information for Broken Arrow Families

Summer is quickly coming to an end, and Broken Arrow Public Schools is preparing to welcome more than 20,000 students back for the 2026–27 school year. Whether you’re sending a child to Pre-K for the first time or returning for another year, here’s what families need to know before classes begin.

First Day of School

The first day of school for most Broken Arrow Public Schools students is Wednesday, August 12. Pre-K students will begin classes later in August, allowing younger learners time to participate in orientation and transition activities. The district serves more than 20,000 students across 31 school sites, making it one of Oklahoma’s largest public school districts.

Enrollment Still Available

Families who have recently moved to Broken Arrow or still need to enroll a student can complete registration through the district’s Enrollment Center. Parents should have proof of residency, immunization records, birth certificates and any previous school records available to help speed up the process. Enrollment information and required forms are available through the Broken Arrow Public Schools website.

Meet the Teacher & School Open Houses

Most Broken Arrow schools will host Meet the Teacher events before the first day of classes, giving students and parents the opportunity to:

  • Meet classroom teachers
  • Tour school buildings
  • Locate classrooms
  • Drop off school supplies
  • Learn pickup and drop-off procedures

Families should check their individual school’s website or social media pages for exact dates and times.

Bus Routes, Meals & School Supplies

Parents are encouraged to verify transportation information before the first day of school. Bus routes, breakfast and lunch menus, school supply lists and bell schedules are available online through the district’s website.

Students attending Broken Arrow High School can also review updated bell schedules, parking information and student handbook details before classes begin.

Important Dates

  • August 12: First day of school for most students
  • Late August: Pre-K students begin classes
  • Labor Day: No school
  • Fall Break: Scheduled later in the semester

Parents can view the complete 2026–27 instructional calendar on the district’s website for holidays, parent-teacher conferences and school breaks.

Preparing for a Successful School Year

District leaders encourage families to begin adjusting bedtime routines, organizing school supplies and reviewing transportation plans before the first day of class. Taking time now to prepare can help students make a smooth transition back into the classroom.

For additional information, families can visit the Broken Arrow Public Schools website or contact their child’s school directly with questions regarding enrollment, schedules or transportation.
