A tragic incident occurred in Azle, Texas, on Father’s Day, when a 25-year-old woman, Rebekah Brooks, was killed by her father, Charles Brooks, during an argument with her mother.
Investigation Underway
According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call at the family home and found Rebekah with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite attempts to save her, she died at the scene.
Charles Brooks, 61, confessed to investigators that he retrieved a handgun, loaded it, and chambered a round before stepping in to separate the two women. He claimed the firearm discharged during the intervention, striking his daughter.
Brianna Tucker, a friend of Rebekah’s, remembered her as a happy person who always made people feel welcomed. Rebekah leaves behind a young son, and Tucker is praying for her family and little boy.
The Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation, and interviews are being conducted to determine what led to the altercation and Brooks’ use of a firearm.
