Elena Katherine Moore, a 39-year-old fitness trainer from South Carolina, was found dead last week after disappearing on June 11. An autopsy has been conducted, but it did not determine the cause of her death, and no signs of physical trauma were found.
Investigation Ongoing
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office stated that the autopsy did not identify an immediate cause of death, and the cause of death remains pending while investigators await toxicology results, microscopic tissue testing, and a review of Moore’s medical records.
Moore was last seen on June 11 after signing into a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington. Surveillance footage showed her walking away from the gym toward a wooded area behind a nearby Lowe’s Home Improvement store.
Friends have reported that Moore had been acting unusually before her disappearance and had confided in them that she was scared for her life.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is continuing to investigate the case, and no manner of death has been determined.
