Pennsylvania native Auston Trusty has achieved his lifelong dream of playing for Team USA in the World Cup. Trusty, from Riddlewood, Pennsylvania, has been chasing this moment his whole life. He started playing soccer in his backyard, dribbling around his house and kicking the ball into the bushes.
From Backyard to World Stage
Trusty’s passion for soccer led him to turn down a full-ride scholarship to the University of North Carolina to pursue a professional soccer career. He started with the MLS team Philadelphia Union, then moved to Colorado, and eventually landed at Celtic FC. Throughout his journey, Trusty kept his dream of making the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team alive.
Trusty has been steadily building chemistry with his teammates over time. He grew up playing with Christian, Tyler, Weston, Haji, and they have developed strong relationships with each other. The cohesiveness and chemistry they have with each other are amazing, according to Trusty.
With one goal in mind, Trusty said, ‘The goal is to win the World Cup.’ He knows the opportunity to play for his country in a home World Cup is rare. Trusty made his World Cup debut against Australia and scored his first goal against Turkey in the final game of the group stage.
