According to Jackson, audiobooks allow children to hear how words are pronounced, reducing their anxiety about reading aloud. They can also rewind and replay sections to improve their comprehension. Additionally, audiobooks can help with vocabulary building, which is essential for childhood literacy.
Catch Up and Read hosts various programs to increase childhood literacy throughout the school year, with a mission to help students in underserved communities read at grade level by third grade. Students who are not reading at grade level by third grade are four times more likely not to graduate from high school.
