Arlington, Texas, kicked off its Independence Day celebration with a parade on Saturday morning, marking a double milestone: the city’s 150th anniversary and America’s 250th birthday.
The Parade
The parade, which started around 9 a.m., featured over 100 entries, including marching bands from local high schools, car clubs, and colorful floats carrying members of local groups and businesses.
About 75,000 people were expected to attend, but organizers said the crowd could be larger due to Friday’s World Cup match between Egypt and Australia at Dallas Stadium.
A Beloved Tradition
This is the 62nd year for the Arlington Independence Day parade, which has grown from a humble bike parade in Randoll Mill Park in 1965 to the largest July 4 parade in Texas and one of the largest in the country.
