As the NBA Draft approaches, several former Arizona Wildcats are already making a name for themselves in professional basketball leagues around the world. More than 30 ex-Arizona players are competing in leagues other than the NBA, with many finding success overseas.
Notable Performances
Rawle Alkins averaged 19.6 points and 9.6 rebounds for the Kumakoto Volters in Japan’s B.League. Brandon Ashley played for Altiri Chiba in the Japanese B.League, averaging 13.4 points and 6.9 rebounds. Angelo Chol, a 32-year-old veteran, played for Japan’s Akita Northern Happinets, averaging 7.1 points and 5 rebounds in 14 games.
Kyle Fogg, one of the oldest players on the list, wrapped up his season with the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association, averaging 10.7 points and 1.9 assists. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson earned EASL All-Defensive Team honors with the Meralco Bolts in the East Asia Super League. Grant Jerrett built a decade-plus career overseas, averaging 21.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists for Utsunomiya Brex in Japan’s B.League.
International Competition
Stanley Johnson completed his first season with the Nagasaki Velca in Japan’s B.League, averaging 21.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Ryan Luther played for Osaka Evessa in the Japanese B League, while Keanu Pinder competed for Japan’s Akita Northern Happinets. Brandon Randolph played for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the Chinese Basketball Association, averaging 12.7 points and 2.4 rebounds.
Dusan Ristic made the move to Japan, playing for the Kawasaki Brave Thunders in the B.League, averaging 12.9 points and 8.3 rebounds. Kaleb Tarczewski played for the Yokohama B-Corsairs, averaging 9 points and 8.5 rebounds. Derrick Williams developed into a stout international player, averaging 17.8 points and 5.2 rebounds for Suwon KT Sonicboom in the Korean Basketball League.
