Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is awaiting her opponent for the November election, with U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs leading in polls among Republican candidates. Biggs, who has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, is running against U.S. Rep. David Schweikert in the Republican primary.
Biggs’ Platform
Biggs has stated that he will focus on making Arizona more affordable, particularly in terms of housing costs. He also plans to create a good regulatory and tax environment to attract businesses to the state. Additionally, Biggs aims to incrementally reduce or eliminate the income tax and ensure the Arizona Department of Public Safety is fully funded and staffed.
Biggs has also expressed his support for expanding school choice and health freedom policies in Arizona. He has voted for major tax-cut policies, including the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Schweikert’s Platform
Schweikert’s campaign website states that he will focus on Arizona’s economy by lowering taxes, eliminating regulations, and attracting new businesses to the state. He also plans to crack down on illegal immigration in the state.
The Democratic and Republican primaries for the gubernatorial nominees will take place on July 21. Hobbs has a significant cash-on-hand advantage over Biggs and Schweikert, with $7.2 million compared to their $1.1 million and $86,388, respectively.
