The Arizona Wildcats have officially added veterans Max Harris and Ismail Mahdi to their roster. Both players were granted an extra year of eligibility following a federal judge’s ruling last month.
Experience and Talent
Mahdi led the UA in rushing last season with 859 yards, while Harris was third on the team with 78 tackles. The two veterans will bring valuable experience to the team.
The Wildcats’ running back room now includes Kedrick Reescano, Quincy Craig, and Antwan Roberts, in addition to Mahdi. Harris joins a group of linebackers that includes seniors Taye Brown and Chase Kennedy.
Defensive Line Depth
The team’s defensive line has several newcomers, including Keytrin Harris, Kaisi Lafitaga, and Prince Williams, who have stood out in fall camp. The 6-foot-3, 272-pound Williams was the MaxPreps Nevada Player of the Year last season.
Defensive line coach Joe Salave’a praised Williams, saying, “There comes along a certain type of raw talent, and he has those qualities and redeeming qualities.”
The team’s strength and conditioning coach, Cullen Carroll, will determine the timetable for how quickly Harris and Mahdi can get up to speed physically.
