Angola NOAA Weather Radio Limited

The National Weather Service says the NOAA Weather Radio station serving the Angola area continues to operate with significantly reduced coverage as technicians work to replace critical equipment.

According to a Public Information Statement, station KXI-94 on 162.425 MHz is experiencing very limited range and alerting capabilities while officials await the installation of a new antenna and transmission line. The National Weather Service says there is currently no estimated timetable for when the station will return to full power.

Residents in Steuben County and surrounding areas are encouraged to ensure they have multiple ways to receive weather warnings and emergency alerts while repairs continue. Listeners who are unable to receive the Angola broadcast may be able to monitor nearby NOAA Weather Radio stations.

Residents are also encouraged to utilize smartphone emergency alerts, local media outlets, weather apps, and NOAA Weather Radio as part of a layered approach to receiving severe weather warnings.
