Analog Brewing & Game Bar sits on West 3rd Street in downtown Davenport, and it does exactly what the name says: you drink decent beer, you play board games, and you stay longer than you planned.
I wandered in on a Thursday evening last winter expecting a bar with a shelf of Jenga sets. What I found was a wall-to-wall library of around 500 games — Wingspan, Catan, Ticket to Ride, Azul, a dozen party games, old-school card games, and deep-cut strategy titles I’d never heard of. The staff know the collection. Ask them what plays well with four people who’ve had a couple beers and they’ll steer you right without hesitation.
The beer program is small but deliberate. They pour their own house brews alongside a rotating local and regional tap list. I’ve had a solid pale ale and a malt-forward amber there. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything tastes like someone actually thought about it. A pint runs $5–$7. They also do canned seltzers and non-alcoholic options if you’re driving or just not drinking, which I appreciate because it means you can bring a wider crowd.
The game rental fee is $2 per person, or you can get a membership if you’re planning to be a regular. It’s a genuinely reasonable setup. For a group of four, you’re looking at maybe $30–$40 total for an evening that’ll run two or three hours easy. Compare that to a movie plus parking and snacks, and the math is obvious.
The space itself is comfortable without being precious about it. Wood tables, decent lighting, not too loud. There’s room to spread out a large game without elbowing the next table. On weekends it fills up, especially after 7 p.m., so I’d recommend getting there by 5:30 or 6 if you want a table with some breathing room. Weeknights are quieter and honestly my preferred time — you get more staff attention and a more relaxed vibe overall.
I’ve taken a first date there, a work friend’s birthday group, and my brother-in-law who claims he hates games. The first date was fun because the game gives you something to do besides stare at each other. The birthday group was easy because there’s no wrong move — pick a game, order a round, figure it out. My brother-in-law spent two hours playing Sushi Go and asked if we could come back. So.
They do trivia nights and occasional themed events, worth checking their social media for. The kitchen situation is limited — I’d eat before you go or grab something nearby on 3rd Street before settling in. That’s really my only practical complaint. The snack options are minimal, and once you’re into a long game, ordering food and a round of beers from somewhere else feels like a lot of friction.
Analog is at 313 W. 3rd Street, downtown Davenport. They open at 3 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends. Closed Mondays. It’s the kind of place that rewards coming back, because the game library is deep enough that you’ll never run out of things to try.
