American Eagle Names New Cfo

American Eagle Outfitters has named Ravi Thanawala as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective August 3. Thanawala will join American Eagle from Papa John’s, where he has been serving as CFO since November 2025.

Background

Before joining Papa John’s in 2023, Thanawala was the CFO of Nike’s North America business for about three years. He will replace Mike Mathias, who has been with American Eagle for 25 years and has held several roles, including CFO since April 2020.

Mathias will transition to a full-time non-executive strategic advisor to CEO Jay Schottenstein once Thanawala takes over. American Eagle also reiterated its second-quarter and full-year 2026 forecast, which was shared in May.
