Texas A&M University Texarkana will take ownership of Texarkana Golf Ranch in September, the university announced Wednesday. The plan to take over the course was approved by the Texas A&M University Board of Regents in May, with the Texarkana, Texas, city council approving a proposed land swap during its July meeting.
Commitment to Public Access
Despite the change in ownership, A&M Texarkana has committed to leaving the course open to the public and has committed to improving it as well. The school says it has updates planned that will include enhancements designed to elevate play, showcase the natural beauty of the property, and create an unforgettable experience for golfers.
University President Dr. Ross Alexander said that the timeline will be aggressive and appreciates the patience from current members and players. The course will be closed, and memberships will be paused during the renovation. Texarkana Golf Ranch will be home to the A&M Texarkana golf teams and will allow the school to expand its academic programs, including a new Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with tracks in Plant and Soil Sciences and Golf Course Management.
