Former Superintendent Robin Bullock announced her retirement in January, and the district began soliciting proposals from search firms later that month. The district selected Texas-based law firm Thompson and Horton to lead the search in February. However, after conducting interviews, the board decided the remaining candidates were not the right fit for the district.
Acting Superintendent Kim McLaughlin, who started in the role on June 1, will serve as a transitional leader while the district continues its search for a long-term superintendent. The board will conduct due diligence to find a highly qualified candidate, with the search potentially concluding as early as the fall 2026 semester or as late as the spring 2027 semester.
