Shooting Details
Police said the suspect, Arturo Nanez, told them he left his home that day intending to kill a homeless person. A witness, who was speaking with Lopez just before the shooting, described the terrifying moments that followed.
“I saw the gun ignite and I saw everything, so all my friends ran,” the witness said. “This guy is literally just like holding himself and he’s like bleeding and he’s literally begging us to call the ambulance,” the witness added.
Lopez was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Nanez was arrested after the shooting.
