Albino Buffalo Named After Trump Draws Crowds in Bangladesh

A rare albino buffalo, fondly named after former U.S. President Donald Trump due to its distinctive blond tuft of hair, has become a sensation at the national zoo in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The animal’s striking appearance has drawn visitors from across the country, eager to catch a glimpse of the creature that has captured the public’s imagination.

The buffalo, originally intended for sacrifice during the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha, was spared when the government intervened, citing security concerns. Instead, the animal was relocated to the zoo, where it now enjoys a life of attention and care. Visitors, including families with young children, have been flocking to the zoo, braving the heat to see the buffalo in person.

The animal’s resemblance to Donald Trump, noted for its golden locks and distinctive features, has been a topic of fascination. Mohammed Nasim, a student in Dhaka, remarked on the similarities, noting both the buffalo’s and Trump’s unique appearances and the attention they garner.

Initially, the zoo displayed a sign with the name “Donald Trump,” but it was removed following public criticism. The zoo curator was dismissed, although no official reason was provided. Some locals, like Dhaka resident Mohammad Joynal Adedin, expressed discomfort with naming a farm animal after a prominent global leader, considering it disrespectful.

The buffalo’s journey from a farm outside Dhaka to becoming a zoo attraction highlights the unexpected ways in which local stories can capture widespread attention. The incident also underscores the cultural intersections that occur in a globalized world, where a buffalo in Bangladesh can become linked to an American political figure.
