All Albany County Fish Creek Fire evacuations have been lifted, according to Emergency Management Coordinator Kate Allred. Residents and campers may return to the area, but are advised to use caution on roadways due to remaining fire resources.
The fire, which prompted evacuations in a two-mile radius around Fish Creek Ranch and the Cherokee Park area, is now 90 percent contained. Firefighters constructed 900 feet of handline and the fire received substantial rain, contributing to the containment.
The Albany County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the responders’ quick response and the smooth evacuation operation. The office also thanked local residents for their patience and cooperation in avoiding the area, which assisted in firefighter and response personnel safety.
