Alamo Ranch has become one of the fastest growing parts of Bexar County, with a population growth of 65% since the COVID-19 pandemic. To address the increasing traffic, Bexar County officials are expanding roads in the area.
Expansion Plans
Bexar County is planning to build a six-lane elevated parkway that will bypass major intersections in the area. The $113.5 million project is expected to be completed by 2029 and will reduce traffic congestion.
The new parkway will have three eastbound and three westbound lanes, and will reduce the commute time from 20 minutes to three minutes during busy morning hours. The construction will also reduce traffic that is currently overflowing into surrounding neighborhoods.
Regional Growth
Bexar County Public Works is planning for regional growth to the west, with a West Planning Study that will take place over the next 9 to 12 months. The study will help identify growth patterns and prioritize where the next needs are.
