Alabama Freshman Wide Receiver Cederian Morgan Expected to See Early Action

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The University of Alabama football program continues its tradition of giving talented freshmen meaningful roles early in the season. Wide receiver Cederian Morgan, a former four‑star recruit from Benjamin Russell High School, is expected to see snaps in the upcoming opener against East Carolina.

Competition and Coach’s Outlook

Coach Kalen DeBoer said Morgan is in the mix for the third wide‑receiver spot, competing directly with sophomore Derek Meadows, another big‑bodied target. ‘Cedarian certainly has got to be a part of the mix there, the receiving core, just with the skill set he has,’ DeBoer explained. He added that the freshman is learning the pace of college football, noting that “all our guys that come in as freshmen are starting to understand that this is not a couple weeks of fall camp.”

Role on Special Teams

DeBoer also highlighted Morgan’s potential contributions on special teams, emphasizing the need for depth and versatility as the team heads into its first game. “It’s not just offensively, but we need him in special teams roles at times,” the coach said, noting the intensity of practice and the importance of earning playing time.

High‑School Production

At Benjamin Russell, Morgan posted impressive numbers, catching 82 passes for 1,419 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior. He chose Alabama over offers from Georgia, Auburn and LSU, underscoring the program’s appeal to top talent.

Season Opener Details

Alabama will open the 2026 season at home on Saturday, September 5, when the Crimson Tide host the East Carolina Pirates. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Central Time.
