Alabama hosted its second annual ‘Media Day’ on Saturday, August 8th. Wide receiver Rico Scott spoke about a few players that have impressed him over the course of the offseason and into fall camp, and the quarterback battle between Austin Mack and Keleon Russell.
Players to Watch
When detailing players that have impressed him on the defensive side of the ball, he said, ‘Ivan Taylor (SO – DB) is the hardest worker I’ve ever seen, on and off the field; he eats, sleeps, and breathes football. It’s evident with him and will show up on the field this year.’ He also mentioned Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. (JR – DB), stating, ‘I feel he gets overlooked; he’s ambitious, the DBs compete every day and never give us receivers a day off.’
He was also asked about the leadership from both quarterbacks, Russell and Mack, saying, ‘It’s all I see every time I open my phone. I’m tired of seeing and hearing about the quarterback battle, so I know that they are too. It’s inspiring; it shows they care with all the work they put in, they’ve accepted the challenge, and it’s only going to make them better at the end of the day.’ Rico Scott is also primed for a bigger role this season, and for his thoughts on the team as a whole, it is no surprise he is high on the defensive backs and Lotzeir Brooks.
