Ohio’s voter‑registration deadline lands on Oct. 5, and residents of Akron and Summit County have a handful of convenient, free events to get registered before the Nov. 3 General Election. The League of Women Voters of the Akron Area, in partnership with Akron Votes, the local NAACP chapter and several community institutions, will staff tables at libraries, a college campus, a supermarket and a neighborhood gathering spot.

Saturday, Sept. 12 – 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Green Branch Library, 4046 Massillon Road. The League’s volunteers will be in the community room to guide new voters through the registration process and answer questions.
Thursday, Sept. 17 and Monday, Sept. 21 – 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Stark State College, 360 Perkins St., Middlebury. A League of Women Voters table will be set up in the Akron main building for students and community members to register and receive election‑date reminders.
Friday, Sept. 18 – 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Buchtel Commons, University of Akron, 302 E. Buchtel Ave., University Park. The League of Women Voters of Ohio will staff a pop‑up registration booth and distribute nonpartisan voting information.
Friday, Sept. 18 – noon – 4 p.m.
Dave’s Supermarket, 871 E. Exchange St., Middlebury. Akron Votes and the Akron NAACP chapter will provide a voter‑information table, registration assistance, and a small celebration with food and music.
Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19 – noon – 4 p.m.
RSVP Food & Party Outlet, 1525 S. Hawkins Ave., Sherbondy Hill. This family‑friendly gathering will feature registration help, status checks, and outreach focused on the importance of voting for women and African‑American communities, plus giveaways for children.
How to register
Registrations can be completed online through the Ohio Secretary of State’s website, by mail, or in person at any Akron‑Summit County Public Library branch or a deputy registrar at the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. To register on the spot, bring a valid Ohio driver’s license or state ID, a current address and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
Why the deadline matters
Ohio law requires voters to be registered by Oct. 5 to appear on the ballot for the Nov. 3 General Election. Missing the deadline means you cannot cast a ballot in person or by mail, and you forfeit the opportunity to have your voice heard on local, state and federal races.
