Akron’s downtown area is set to see significant developments, thanks to nearly $10 million in historic tax credits awarded to three projects. The Huntington Tower, the tallest building in downtown Akron, will receive $4.55 million to help convert the office building into a mixed-use development featuring 200 apartments, office, commercial, and retail space.
Quaker Square and Quaker Station Redevelopment
The state also awarded $5 million to help fund the $40.7 million project to remake Quaker Square into a hotel and residences. Additionally, Quaker Station at 120 E. Mill St. will receive $400,000 to update its restrooms, kitchen facilities, and roof. The work will maintain the building’s historic character while improving functionality, and it will continue to operate as a conference center and banquet venue.
