Akron Henna Art, owned by Nirali Schrader, provides free henna crowns for patients undergoing chemotherapy to help them regain their confidence after losing their hair.
Restoring Beauty and Confidence
Schrader learned the art of henna in India when she was 8 years old. Each design reflects the person wearing it, and she believes that helping cancer patients feel beautiful and confident is the most rewarding part of her work.
Joanne Messeri, a cancer patient, felt beautiful again after receiving a henna crown from Schrader. The confidence the henna crown gave her lasted longer than the artwork itself, which fades after about three weeks.
