Oklahoma is your College World Series champion. The Sooners blew the doors off in the winner-take-all Game 3, routing North Carolina 13-2 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
Second baseman Kyle Branch was the story of the game — three for four with a home run and six RBI, including a three-run shot that put the finishing touches on it. Shortstop Jaxon Willits also went three for four in the win.
It’s Oklahoma’s third national championship in program history, and head coach Skip Johnson’s first title in his ninth season leading the program. For North Carolina, it’s a third runner-up finish in the MCWS finals — still no national title for the Tar Heels.
It’s the first national title for the Sooners since 1994.
