Breckinridge County is preparing for more weekend rain after two tornadoes, an EF-0 and an EF-1, caused significant damage in communities including Clifton Mills and Webster.
Tornado Damage
Sinking Creek Farm was among the hardest-hit spots, with a barn and a machine shop damaged and an apartment on the property narrowly missed. Family and friends helped clean up the farm, with Sarah Heck, whose family owns the farm, expressing gratitude for the help.
National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Deitsch said evidence at the scene pointed to tornado damage, including lofted debris and items stuck in trees. The most serious confirmed damage was from an EF-1 tornado with winds around 100 mph in the eastern part of Breckinridge County.
Breckinridge County Emergency Management Director Justin Frazier warned that more heavy rain could lead to prolonged flooding. Heck advised people to check their insurance policies to ensure they are adequately covered in case of storms.
