The Greenville City Council has unanimously approved a development agreement with The Furman Co. Development LLC for the future Falls Park Conference District in downtown Greenville. The project, which is expected to cost over $500 million, will redevelop more than six acres of land on the east side of Falls Park into a mixed-use district through public-private partnerships.
Project Details
The Furman Co. will be responsible for the design and construction of a 100,000-square-foot downtown conference center, a 1,420-space parking garage, and approximately 6,000 square feet of outdoor public space, as well as an extension of Falls Park and other related public infrastructure. The district will also include a high-end hotel, new office space, and multi-family residences.
In other news, the council unanimously approved the appointment of Lucas Marchant as the next chief judge of the Greenville Municipal Court. Marchant, a Greenville native, took the oath of office during the council meeting and will begin his two-year term on July 1.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation also provided an update on the planned replacement of the West Faris Road bridge near Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. The $8.4 million project is expected to begin construction in the spring of 2027 and will include intersection improvements and a new 85-foot concrete bridge.
